TIPAY

How tipay works

tipay lets anyone back a coin launched on Argus, the token launchpad on Circle's Arc chain, by writing a short thesis and tipping the coin's creator in USDC. The money goes from your wallet straight to the payout wallet Argus has on record. tipay never holds funds, takes no cut of a tip and runs no contract in the middle.

How a tip moves

  1. You pick up to five Argus coins and write why (20 to 500 characters).
  2. Your wallet signs the thesis. This is a message signature: no gas, and it proves the words are yours.
  3. For each coin, the page reads the payout wallet from Argus through your own wallet, and compares it with what the tipay API said. If they differ, nothing is sent.
  4. Your wallet sends plain native USDC transfers, one per payout wallet. Arc settles them in under a second.
  5. The tipay API reads each transfer back from Arc (sender, recipient, amount, time) before it counts toward the feed, the leaderboard or anyone's patron card.

The smallest tip is $0.50 per coin, so the feed is not flooded with dust. On Arc, gas is paid in USDC too: USDC is all you need.

Which coins can be tipped

Any coin launched through an Argus Portal on Arc mainnet (chain 5042):

  • Current Portal: the payout comes from the Portal's creator registry, payoutOf(coin), or its payout split.
  • First Portal: the creator stored with the launch receives the tip.
  • Launched for an X or GitHub identity that has not claimed it: there is no wallet to pay yet, so tipay says so and does not guess.

Anyone can launch a coin with any name. A coin called USDC, ETH or ARC on Argus is a memecoin that borrowed the ticker, and tipay marks it with a warning wherever it appears.

Where the money lands

A tip lands exactly where Argus pays the creator from the coin's trading tax. If the creator split their payout between wallets, the tip is split the same way, one transfer per wallet. When the creator has proposed a new payout wallet, tips keep going to the current one until the new wallet accepts. A community takeover waiting out the registry's delay is shown on the coin page.

Coin pages also show the Argus side of the coin, read from its contracts: buy and sell tax, Argus's share of the tax, how the rest is divided (creator, holder dividends, buyback and burn, liquidity) and what the creator fund has collected and paid out.

Co-signs and writer shares

Co-signing tips the coins in someone else's thesis. By default 10% goes to the writer, adjustable from 0 to 30% before you send. The writer's share goes to the wallet that signed the thesis, or for a thesis posted on fomo, to the wallet that proved that fomo handle.

A transfer has to be recorded within 60 minutes of being sent, so nobody can claim strangers' old transfers as co-signs. The co-sign board ranks co-signers with a proved fomo handle first. Proving a handle means putting a one-time code in the fomo bio; the code works for 60 minutes.

Bounties

A coin's creator can pay people to write about the coin. Only the coin's Argus payout wallet (or the wallet that launched it) can open its bounty, and the API checks that on-chain. The bounty is a signed announcement: reward per thesis, total pool, deadline (up to 90 days) and rules against farming, all part of the signature so they cannot change quietly.

  • One reward per writer, on by default.
  • A minimum length (80 characters by default, links not counted).
  • Near copies (80% word overlap or more) go to the queue; the first one written keeps its place.
  • Optional: proved fomo handles only, fomo posts only, a daily cap.

tipay never holds bounty money. The creator pays each thesis from their own wallet; the payment is read back from Arc, and the bounty page shows what was promised next to what was paid. A thesis paid by the coin's creator carries a paid label, so readers know.

Boosts and the tipay share

tipay earns in two ways, both separate transfers you see and sign, never a cut of a tip:

  • Boosts: pay USDC to pin a thesis at the top of the feed for a day, three days or a week. A boosted thesis carries a Boosted label for the whole run. When every slot is taken, a new boost starts when the first one ends.
  • An optional share you can add on top of a tip, from 0 to 5%. It is off unless you choose it; creators still receive the whole tip.

Patron cards

Every wallet that tips gets a public patron card: total tipped, coins backed, a weekly streak and early-backer badges for coins where it was among the first ten patrons. Creators see their patron list on their coin page, which is the list worth having before an airdrop.

$TIPAY

The tipay coin launches on Argus, straight into a pool on Arc with its rules fixed at launch. Its Argus creator fund pays for tipay's servers and data. Its contract, taxes and split are published on the home page, read from the chain, once it is live. Nothing on this site is a promise of returns.

What tipay stores

  • Theses you sign, with the signature and the coins they name.
  • Transfers tipay verified on Arc: sender, recipient, amount, time, and which thesis they belong to.
  • Bounties, boosts, proved fomo handles and reports (a report stores a salted hash of the reader, not their IP).
  • An index of Argus launches read from the Portal, and cached coin images.

There are no accounts, emails or cookies for tracking. A thesis reported by 3 different readers leaves the public lists; nothing is deleted, and its link keeps working.

Risks

  • Tips are final. A transfer on a public blockchain cannot be reversed by tipay or anyone else.
  • The coins are launched by strangers. A creator can abandon a coin, and a coin can go to zero. A tip is support, not an investment, and nothing here is financial advice.
  • Argus can change its contracts. tipay reads new Portal generations as they are added; until then, coins from an unknown Portal cannot be tipped.
  • tipay depends on Arc's public RPC endpoints and on Argus contract behaviour it read from the chain, not from published source code.
  • Theses and bounties are written by users. Read them as opinions, and check the paid and Boosted labels.
  • tipay is an independent project, not affiliated with Circle, Arc, Argus or fomo.
